When she is given the case of a missing youngster in the High Wycombe district of Buckinghamshire who is subsequently discovered dead, things become even more complicated for her.
On the surface, the case seems to be solved when the suspect got arressed, but Jass is certain that there are still more secrets.
The Buckingham Murders Review
Buckingham Murders’ eerie setting is quickly created by director Hansal Mehta.
From the gripping crime scene where numerous suspects are revealed, each with their own sinister secrets, to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character everything remains uncertain until the end.
Aseem Arrora’s narrative employs a number of settings to establish a gripping and unsettling atmosphere as the murder inquiry gets underway.
The film’s ability to maintain a consistent pacing and avoid wasting time on unnecessary plot lines and casting.
But when The Buckingham Murders nears its climax in the second half, the screenplay fails to meet the expectation of gritting the first half.
The plot is quite predictable, even though the murder investigation may have been presented in a more complex way.
The tale would have benefited from improved writing and character development for the supporting ensemble of stars.
Rather, it makes you wonder about some of their final acts, albeit in a perplexing manner.
Performance
Naturally, without Kareena Kapoor Khan’s skill in negotiating every nook and cranny of the terrifying corridors of The Buckingham Murders’s dark, solemn, multi-layered plot, none of it would have been conceivable.
It especially pays rich dividends when none of the supporting cast barring Ranveer Brar are up to scratch, leaving Kareena to do all the heavy lifting, which she manages with composed stewardship.
Technical Aspects
Hansal Mehta’s skill in his profession and to his three incredibly talented writers that he was able to support that mystery with delicate human emotions, severe trauma, and changing human dynamics.
He has done a great job by creating a gripping murder mystery enjoyable from beginning to end.
Amitesh Mukherjee’s edits, too, leave a lot to be desired in terms of flow, pace, and duration as does Ketan Sodha’s background score and some off-putting, totally incongruous songs.
It’s a good thing that at least Emma Dalesman’s camerawork stands tall above others.
Conclusion
The Buckingham Murders is the right kind of film for an investigative thriller enthusiastic. Kareena Kapoor’s fans can enjoy a cleverly written character for the protagonist.
Even though the movie is predictable at crucial points, the plot remains uncertain till the climax makes the movie interesting.
Thus The Buckingham Murders is a film that will be celebrated for sure in the future. If you can watch it at the theatre.
