Vijay is the top actor in Kollywood (Possibly in south India) and the actor’s movies always garner more attention. But, His latest venture is with one of the distinct directors of the industry.

Story
The story of Goat is about M.S Gandhi (Vijay) a former member of the Special Anti-Terrorism Squad(SATS) who left the squad due to a bitter past. But, He must get his wits together to fight the new criminal who is unstoppable.
The SATS team includes the ensemble cast of Nazeer (Jayaram), Sunil Thiagarajan (Prashanth), Kalyan Sundaram (Prabhudeva) and Ajay (Ajmal Ameer).
GOAT is not the stereotypical action drama we used to see and has much more in the story itself for becoming a good family entertainer.
But has it managed to achieve that feet through its screenplay? read further to know more.
GOAT Review
The story of the GOAT is not new to Indian Cinema, A Veteran with a secret past living in exile takes up his old sleeve back to fight the old nemeses. Does that ring a bell? There are a lot of movies with the same theme.
But GOAT has some singular features that make the movie interesting. But, does not provide the nostalgia that is the basis for any action film.
The movie gives what the core fans of the Vijay want. However, it does not fulfill the expectations of neutral fans.
Everything is predictable (Maybe that is what the director wants) throughout the movie. But Vijay’s Grace makes us sit through the film without losing interest.
The De-Aging technology looks better than what we have seen in Trailer and Songs pre-released to the movie.
Reference to Actor’s Previous Films, CSK, Dhoni, Retro Songs, and even some Hollywood movies creates fun theatre moments. But some of these will be questioned when the film hits OTT.
Performance
Vijay has given a bang-up performance and stands tall in this star-studded film. With the dual role, the actor pulls off a stand-out performance in the Young role (Jeevan).
Moreover the charisma of the actor is rising with every movie, Fans celebrating every scene of the movie.
Prasanth, Prabhu Deva, and Ajmal as the SATS teammates fit into their respective roles. Though they have a screen presence, they do not have a good role to perform.
Sneha as the Wife of Vijay looks pretty and is a great choice for the role.
Mohan the veteran actor in the Tamil cinema industry as an antagonist gives a stable performance. But, that is because of the screen presence of Vijay, Who is the main antagonist.
Every member of the cast members did well with a dependable performance to the Director.
Technical Aspects
VFX for the movie which was trolled during the launch of the first single. But, the De-Aging technology looks good in the movie. The VFX is great compared to what we are getting in Bollywood in recent times.
Yuvan Shankar Raja‘s music in songs works well. But, the background score is ordinary for the actor’s caliber.
The cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni is good and clean on the screen.
The captain of the Ship Director Venkat Prabhu has wanted to give a mass movie to the Vijays fans. Though there are several let downs the director gives a good film for the audience.
Conclusion
GOAT is not a movie you would watch for the storytelling or the actor’s performance. The movie is made for the fans to have fun with.
Though everyone can like the film, it does not really engage the family audience. Apart from the performance of Vijay there is nothing that could save the weak script.
But it does make us sit through the movie without boredom. And if you do not expect anything beforehand you could enjoy several moments.
Thus the movie is not a bad one and not the Greatest of All time either. It can create fun moments for you If you watch it in the theatre.
