Hindustani 2 is a sequel to the 1996 classic cult film Hindustani/ Indian. The film is about a Freedom Fighter who becomes a vigilante to stop corruption.
The film has made headlines since its announcement back in 2019. But, has the movie satisfied the fans of the first part, and can attract the new generation as it has done in the past?
Hindustani 2 is the most awaited film of the year with the ensembled cast and reliable director of Indian Cinema. But, how the movie looks on the screen, read our review to know more about the output.
Story
The movie starts with the Group of friends running a Youtube channel to expose corrupted government officials and politicians. The group is headed by Sidhharth (Chitra Varadharanjan) although having fought for a long time could not eradicate the corruption in the country.
Thus they try to bring out the man with the same agenda as they do. But, the problem is the man they are looking for has been on the hide for more than 20 years.
Thus the team pursues the man through social media to bring back the vigilante that the nation needs most.
Hindustani 2 Review
Shankar a Show off director of Indian Cinema for over a decade has taken Indian cinema to the world with his previous films. Hindustani is a sequel to his own blockbuster film released on 1996.
The first part was as mentioned a trendsetter in Indian cinema to a social message film. But, now we have had our own share of social-centric films in every language and all around the country.
So, to make a movie that has a cult following not only by fans but also by the film industry is not an easy task.
Shankar divulges into the movie with a very good idea for a story, But the problem for Hindustani 2 is itself. Anyone who watched the first film will compare the new movie with the first one.
That is the issue here as we could safely say that the film is not up to the expectations and revolves and moves from one scene to another incoherently.
The logic is not a problem to the movie, but to have a common sense about the character of the Indian is missing in the movie.
The movie thought to be the biggest film of South India missed its mark by a huge margin.
Though the movie had some good moments, you are not going to remember them at the end of the movie as there is too much you want to forget.
Performance
Kamal Haasan as Senapathy gives a captivating performance as he is done so many times. However, the script and the writing do not provide support to his character.
If you want to watch the movie for something, surely it will be for the performance of Kamal Haasan.
Siddharth as a social activist gives a decent performance required of him.
All other cast including Bobby Simha, Rakul Preet Singh and Priya Bavani Shankar play their part so as to complement the story.
SJ Surya as an antagonist is always charming to watch, and once again his presence brings the crowd to their feet.

Technical Aspects
Action scenes are like a Shankar film made with a high budget. Though the action scenes are good, the fights look like forced on the screen as opposed to the first part of the film.
The make-up for the film in contrast to other fans. The makeup does not look alien to me and looked good on the screen for the protoganist.
Ravi Varman brings warmness to the screen with his cinematography and showcases different parts of India in a good light.
Though the script is giving a social message opposing bribery and corruption, the movie is made as a commercial film.
The music by Anirudh Ravichandran is trying to hype the movie with the BGM. But the songs are forcefully placed in the movie. And the expectations from the fans are more with the recent record.
All other technicians have done their job to the level that is required of them. And the final output as a film looks good on screen without proper content.kfq
Conclusion
Hindustani is not at all a bad film to be precise. But the problem is it came after one of the greatest Indian films and does not live up to the mark.
The movie might test your patience with the dialogues and screenplay for the fans of the original.
Surely the movie could have been better had the director spent more time on the script than the money on the songs.
But the trailer for the sequel looks promising and everyone is hoping that it will come as a relief to the director and actors.
