Jio Cinema backed by Reliance and Viacom 18 is the OTT platform that is in the rise from its inception and in recent times getting a lot of buzz with new deals and shows.

Jio Cinema now officially confirmed the deal with Warner Bros for the streaming rights of Warner Bros content, HBO Shows and Movies in Indian subcontinent.

For Jio Cinema this is a huge step forward after winning IPL telecast rights which they won it last year for $2.63 for five years.

What is The Deal

Jio Cinema’s deal with Warner Bros. Discovery allows the Jio Cinema to Premier all the new releases as the same time as United States.

The deal also brings whole collection of HBO Originals and Warner Bros Shows and Movies to Jio Cinema.

Note that the HBO and Warner Bros had a partnership deal with Disney+ Hotstar upto last month. But Hotstar has not renewed the deal with the HBO for further peroiod.

Thus Jio Cinema is slowly gaining the upper hand among the Indian OTT platforms.

What Shows be available

The deal will bring HBO Original Shows like In True Detective, The News Room, Boardwalk Empire, Rome, The Leftovers, Veep and True Blood

The deal brings all the Max Original Shows that including Sesame Street, Starstruck, Hacks, The Flight Attendant and Generation.

Jio Cinema will also showcases the movies from Warner Bros that including The Dark Knight Movie Series, Harry Potter Movie Series, Inception, Matrix, Gravity, Sherlock holmes and 300.

This deal will bring thousands of hours of content into the Jio Cinema through talk shows, original shows, podcast and wide collection of movies.

When is the shows coming live

With the deal already completed, it is expected that the remaining processes will follow as early as possible.

The news is that the shows will be available from the month of the May. And as of now Jio Cinema is providing all the content free with the ad supported streaming.

If the HBO shows comes to the platform with the free to view model could easily garner the audience.

Future of Jio Cinema

Jio cinema which is launched way back in 2016 as an exclusive app for the Jio customers.

But has over the years seen a major up-gradation and changes to suit the viewers.

Apart from acquiring the telecast rights for Indian Premier League the most followed sporting event in the OTT platform in 2022.

We could see the plan come to fruition with the staggering numbers in IPL viewership.

Jio cinema already having hours of original content, thanks to the merger with Viacom 18 covering one of the coveted sporting event.

Now with bringing Hollywood content to the Indian market they are changing the dynamics of video streaming in India.

It is obvious that Jio Cinema is going to bring a pay system in the future.
